EARTH CREATIVE IN THE NEWS, July/August ’23

Earth Creative held its first Blue Moon Cruise fundraiser on board the Voyager ship. This unique event was a very special occasion with great scenery, hosts, food and company. We also reached our goal to boot! It was a great opportunity to meet our existing patrons, discover new supporters, and share our many achievements since our founding in 2020.

Special thanks to our generous patrons, volunteers, and hosts John and Bethany Gardiner for their warm hospitality and unwavering faith in our vision. They are themselves deeply dedicated to making a difference in our pursuit of sustainability. Here are some of their initiatives on board the Voyager.

Our great master of ceremony, Sean McLean is inviting those of you who could not join us on our Blue Moon Cruise to support Earth Creative.

A Major Achievement by Earth Creative Artist Natalie Niblack!
Three Degrees

“66 Birds/3 degrees” is a visual and sound installation of Western Washington birds that are at risk if global warming is not mitigated. It was conceived by artist Natalie Niblack in collaboration with Dr. John Bower. Largely based in “Survival By Degrees: 389 Bird Species on the Brink” by the National Audubon Society and birds listed as endangered or threatened in Western Washington state. The birds were painted by Natalie Niblack and the descriptions written by Dr. John Bower. You can see all 66 in person at an exhibit at the Museum of Northwest Art opening on October 14.

Earth Creative Multimedia Artist Vera Schöpe sent us a very interesting film on native seeds produced by SER and addressing climate change. It is a regional piece that addresses the need to use native seeds to restore ecosystems and counteract biodiversity loss.

SCIENCE & EDUCATION

Earth Creative had many of its artists involved in this exhibit at the Schack
and is proud to have inspired thousands of visiting children.

Earth Creative’s artist and founding Board member JR Harris invited children
to his studio for some spontaneous creativity about climate change!

Our Science & Education Chair, Kim Davenport, has been using Earth Creative’s flagship production Terra Nostra for many years with great impact. Here is spontaneous feedback from one of her Washington University students, Anna LaPella.
