NEWS

A Warm Welcome to Jodie Nelson
as the Earth Creative Board of Directors’ New President!

Jodie Nelson, an artist advisor, curator, and consultant, lives by the mantra: “the power of art is transformative.” Jodie launched her career in art advocacy with a focus on ecofeminism 25 years ago. In 1999, she curated shows to raise awareness for river conservation with National Geographic photographers and explorers. She also helped curate notable art events, including “Heaven and Earth,” “Speak for the Trees,” “What Does Compassion Look Like?,” “A Precarious Edge,” “BAIT: Beyond An Inconvenient Truth,” and “Climate Pledge: In Glass.” As the owner and director of Press Reign, a boutique arts admin agency, she has crafted projects featured in Art in America, PBS, The New York Times, Seattle Times, Forbes, Hyperallergic, and Culture Trip. Stay tuned for her upcoming podcast, “Female Frequency,” which delves into the world of ecofeminism and the reclamation of spirituality, art, and ecology in the global economy.

Earth Creative is proud to announce a new partnership with renewable energy technology pioneer…

Moxion is pioneering mobile energy storage products and technologies that accelerate last-mile electrification and enable a more resilient and sustainable future for us all.
It was recently selected as one of the best inventions of 2023 by Time Magazine!

The Partnership…
Moxion’s new location on Harbour Way in Richmond, CA provides a unique opportunity to utilize its vast wall space for semipermanent displays of art that amplify ecosystem awareness and climate justice in impactful ways. Earth Creative has developed a strong partnership with artists worldwide, and Bay Area artists of all mediums, who share a passion for exposing the climate crisis, restoring earth relationships, and taking decisive action to face this global challenge. Together, Moxion, Earth Creative and its artist community have the opportunity to create a transformative experience at the intersection of industry and environmentalism, and reimagine what’s possible in a workspace with wider community impact. The display will invite environmental curiosity, appreciation, learning, and change while communicating our shared commitment to creative, sustainable solutions.

From Laura Tyler, Chair
The Science and Education committee has met periodically and has been very active since the start of the New Year! We reviewed our goals and modified them to reflect a new and more impactful strategy. This will provide us with a clear direction as we seek funding for science and education programs. Our main goals are:

  • Develop a budget for school presentations of Terra Nostra (involving educators, artists and scientists). Include follow-up material and activities (K-12, University)

  • Finance the pairing and filming of lectures by artists and scientists

  • Seek funding for Climate Grief professional development for educators

In addition, we are developing our website to share resources and lesson activities for students and teachers. We have created a simple template for teachers to use in their classrooms. It showcases all of our artists on our webpage, where students can delve deeper into an artist of their choice and reflect on how that art showcases a climate change issue and how it impacts them. We are seeking the creation of more resources for both students and teachers.

If you are interested in helping us with this endeavor please contact us at info@earthcreative.org

Thank you!
